Portable External Hard Drive

Iomega just announced a Mac-compatible external hard drive, the Iomega® eGo™ Portable Hard Drive. This portable hard drive, made of aluminum, has a stylish design. It is rugged and comes with software to increase its usability. It is backed with a three-year limited warranty.

External Hard DriveThis new portable drive has three connector ports. Firewire 800, Firewire 400 and USB 2.0 ports are all here (one of each). Drop Guard™ is included to protect from drops up to 51”.

In addition to Mac compatibility, this external hard drive is also Windows-compatible. In fact, just a couple weeks earlier, Iomega announced an external hard drive without the FireWire capability (at a lower price).

Mac-Compatible versions:

External Hard Drive with 1 USB 2.0 port and 2 FireWire ports

  • 250GB Alpine White eGo model is priced at $99.99
  • 320GB Midnight Blue model is $109.99
  • 500GB Ruby Red model is $149.99

(All pricing is U.S. suggested retail.)

Windows-Compatible versions

  • 50GB Ruby Red eGo model is priced at $84.99
  • 320GB Ruby Red, Midnight Blue and Silver eGo models are $94.99

  • 500GB BlackBelt eGo model is $139.99

(All pricing is U.S. suggested retail.)

Compatibility Note

Both versions of the external hard drives are Window-compatible and Mac-compatible. The chief differences are the FireWire ports and the included software packages.

See www.iomega.com for details on this external hard drive as well as others in their product line.

Tried to use Seagate to backup Mac/Windows using Parallels. Tech was unable to solve problem, even using Paragon. I believe the problem is with tech. Using Lion (10.7.2) on Mac & XP pro on Windows

Will your IoMega EGO be able to do what Seagate promised to do and failed.

Thanks,

Boris,

Thank you for your comment. Sorry for any confusion, but this site is not owned by Iomega. Best wishes as you solve your issues.
